Faith Respectful

At SUDACare, we honour faith as a powerful source of hope, healing, and resilience. We recognise that for many Nigerians, faith is not separate from health — it is central to it.

Our approach promotes accurate, science-informed understanding of Substance Use Disorders while remaining deeply respectful of religious and cultural values. We partner with faith leaders — pastors, imams, and traditional leaders — not to replace clinical care, but to work alongside it, ensuring that communities receive support that speaks to their whole person: body, mind, and spirit.

Pathways to Care

Too many Nigerians struggling with Substance Use Disorders do not know where to turn — or face barriers that prevent them from accessing the care they need.

SUDACare's Pathways to Care initiative equips trusted community and faith leaders with the knowledge and tools to guide individuals ethically toward appropriate clinical, psychological, and recovery services. We bridge the gap between those who are suffering and the professional help that can restore their lives — ensuring that no one has to navigate recovery alone.

ABCD (Asset-Based Community Development)

SUDACare believes that every community already has what it needs to begin healing. The Asset-Based Community Development approach shifts the focus away from deficits and problems, and toward the strengths, relationships, and leadership that already exist within communities.

Rather than imposing external solutions, we identify and mobilise local assets — individuals, associations, institutions, and networks — to drive sustainable change from within. This approach ensures that our work is community-owned, culturally rooted, and built to last long after we leave.

SUDA Care is a community-based organization that strengthens prevention, referral, and recovery for substance use disorders by working through Nigeria's most trusted systems: faith-based institutions, traditional leadership, and community networks; using an asset-based, science-informed, and culturally respectful approach.

1

Identify & Engage

The first step toward healing is recognition. SUDACare works with faith institutions, traditional leaders, and community systems to identify early signs of substance use challenges before they escalate.

By engaging individuals and families with dignity, compassion, and cultural sensitivity, we create a safe entry point into support — one that does not stigmatise or shame, but instead opens doors to understanding and help.
2

Train & Equip

Knowledge is a powerful tool for change. SUDACare provides culturally respectful, evidence-informed training that builds the capacity of trusted community and faith leaders to offer safe guidance and meaningful support.

Our training programmes help leaders reduce stigma within their communities, understand ethical boundaries, recognise the difference between spiritual and clinical needs, and confidently refer individuals to appropriate professional care.
3

Connect to Care

Awareness alone is not enough — people need clear pathways to professional help. SUDACare strengthens community-to-clinical pathways, ensuring that individuals and families are linked to appropriate psychological, neuropsychological, and medical services.

Through our growing network of verified treatment providers across Nigeria, we make sure that no one who seeks help is turned away or left without direction.
4

Sustain Recovery

Recovery is not a destination — it is an ongoing journey that requires consistent support. SUDACare reinforces family-centred and community-based support structures that complement clinical care and promote long-term recovery, dignity, and reintegration.

We walk alongside individuals and families beyond the point of crisis, helping to build sustainable routines, restore relationships, and foster a sense of belonging and purpose in the community.
